This task helps the telecollaborators to get interested in the ways of going out and the leisure activites of their partners. It offers the opportunity of exchanging different points of view and drawing intercultural comparisons by creating a program for an ideal day in their town.

Instructions:

Step 1 (preparation by the teacher):

  • Create a closed forum (type Moodle)
  • Form groups of four: one pair per country
  • Include some time for conducting a chat or a videoconference


Step 2 (research):


  • Via chat (on Moodle) or via videoconference (on Skype) the participants ask their partners about their preferences concerning leisure activities and going out (Bars, cinema, restaurants, concerts, exhibitions).


Step 3 (production):


  • Considering the partners’ preferences the participants propose a program for an ideal day in their town:


The text should be between 100 and 150 words according to the level.


The program should be attractive, it can be illustrated with photos.


Every mentioned place should include information about: name, address, opening hours, target group, ambiance





Teachers may define a precise date or one day a week for the orientation of the students.

Variation:


Step 1 (peparation):


  • Create a closed forum (type moodle) with two columns: ” advice” and ” going out options”
  • Form groups of four: one pair per country


Step 2 (research):


  • In view of organizing an ideal day in the town of the partner, the students are doing research to retrieve information about going- out options (bars, cinema, restaurants, concerts, exhibitions).


The participants should receive information about: name, address, opening hours, target group, ambiance


  • The forum can be used as a space for the telecollaborators to exchange information


Teachers may define a precise date or one day a week for the orientation of the students.


  • After that, the participants post a message in the forum which contains: a chosen place with all the necessary information (see above) / a positive comment of an internet user about this specific place



Step 3 (production):


The participants propose the program for an ideal day in their partners’ town:


The text should be between 100 and 150 words according to the level.


The program should be attractive, it can be illustrated with photos.


Every mentioned place should include information about: name, address, opening hours, target group, ambiance


The telecollaborators post their programs in the forum in the column: ” going-out options”


Step 4 (exchange):


In the forum the participants react to the proposed programs by making comments.


Step 5 (wrap-up in class):


  • Feedback on respecting task instructions of the production, on the differences between the leisure activities, on the activities of the two groups
