To gain more experience with COIL we want to set up a COIL project for lecturers in the spring semester as a form of professional development. As a working title for the project we’ve chosen ‘Encompassing all voices’. We’re a Brussels based University of Applied Sciences and Arts, so our student population is super diverse, urban and multilingual. We feel the need to question the balance of power within our curricula and how we can include more voices and points of view in what and how we teach. We have a double goal for this project: Lecturers learn how to work with COIL from a participant’s perspective. Lecturers are aware of the power balance in their degree programme, their subject and field of study/work. Lecturers are motivated to encompass more voices and points of view in their degree programme or subject course. We have set up a partnershipt with universities in the Netherlands and Germany and are now looking for a partner with a non European perspective.
